Town Street, Clayworth, RETFORD, DN22 9AD

2 rosettes

A beautifully revamped inn in a village dating back to the 12th century, Blacksmiths is still a local pub, but with three attractively furnished bedrooms and a restaurant serving divertingly modern food, it's also a destination worth crossing county lines to visit. The interior is rustic and stylish. The pub side is covered by real ales and classy bar food such as rabbit and chorizo pie, but the main menu really impresses with contemporary stuff such as pan-fried scallops with trotter bonbon and burnt apple purée, followed by perfectly pink local venison loin, or wild sea bass with squid ink linguine. A class act.
