The Lugger

2 rosettes

Dating from the 16th century, now a luxury hotel, The Lugger overlooks the sea and tiny harbour of a picturesque village on the Roseland Peninsula, with a terrace outside the smart, spacious restaurant for summer dining. Local ingredients are the kitchen's linchpin, particularly seafood, which might appear as crab soufflé with white crabmeat in chillied crab bisque. Elsewhere, look for contemporary treatments such as venison bresaola with sultana purée, pickled walnuts and gruyère, then turbot steamed over fruit tea with watercress gnocchi and candied shallots. Cornish cheeses are alternatives to afters like lemon tart brûlée with pistachio crumb and rose jelly.
