Wentbridge House Hotel

The Great North Road, Wentbridge, PONTEFRACT, WF8 3JJ

2 rosettes

Set in 20 acres of landscaped grounds in a West Yorkshire conservation village, Wentbridge is a stone-built grand manor house from the turn of the 18th century. There's a degree of glossy formality, not least in the Fleur de Lys dining room, where candy-coloured upholstery creates a light, bright effect, and the cooking reaches out in all directions for its references. First up might be warm salad of hoi sin duck with preserved orange, watermelon and chill, followed by fillet of Tancred Farm pork wrapped in Parma ham, butternut squash and harissa risotto, or a steak cooked on the chargrill. Finish with sticky toffee pudding.
