Rock Salt Café and Brasserie

31 Stonehouse Street, PLYMOUTH, PL1 3PE

2 rosettes

The sign outside this slate-tiled former pub says 'good, honest food' and that's certainly what this place is all about. Open all day, all week, the easy-going seasidey vibe strikes a relaxed pose but takes the food seriously. There's attention to detail whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner and the kitchen is flexible enough to send out a steak sandwich alongside a memorable main of butter-roasted monkfish, cauliflower, chickpeas, spiced seaweed and cashews. It might be preceded by pork, skate and peanut broth and followed by a tropical dessert of pandanus pannacotta, mango, passionfruit and honeycomb.
