Next to the boutique hotel of the same name, Hart's Restaurant is owned by Tim Hart, who also owns Hambleton Hall Hotel in Oakham, Rutland. With its contemporary good looks and booth seating, it's a welcoming restaurant with an approachable, daily-changing menu of neatly devised dishes in the modern British idiom. The kitchen's with-it approach is seen in main courses of accurately pan-fried cod fillet with a cassoulet of tomatoes, beans and chorizo and roast vegetables, and sticky glazed pork belly with a mushroom sauce infused with lemongrass, accompanied by compressed vegetables and noodles. Bookending them might be classic lobster bisque with brandy cream, or ham hock croquette with pickled onions and a mustard and sherry dressing, and apple soufflé with vanilla ice cream, or pecan tart with clotted cream. Tim Hart compiled the interesting wine list, which is arranged by style.
