Hart's Restaurant

Standard Hill, Park Row, NOTTINGHAM, NG1 6GN

2 rosettes

Next to the boutique hotel of the same name, Hart's Restaurant is owned by Tim Hart, who also owns Hambleton Hall Hotel in Oakham, Rutland. With its contemporary good looks and booth seating, it's a welcoming restaurant with an approachable, daily-changing menu of neatly-devised dishes in the modern British style. The kitchen's with-it approach is seen in main courses of corn-fed chicken breast, which is poached in chicken and mushroom stock for maximum tenderness and served with spelt and chicken risotto enriched with Madeira, cream, Parmesan and lemon, or there might be roast cod with spiced lentils, orange-glazed salsify, curly kale and lemon and hazelnut dressing. Bookending them is a starter of pan-fried sea bass with tart escab?che-style fennel and carrot counterpointing a creamy parsley pur?e, or a more robust pairing of braised lamb's tongue with rosemary and garlic pur?e, crosnes and baby gem lettuce, and to finish, poached Yorkshire rhubarb is matched with kaffir lime-flavoured pannacotta and pistachio brittle. Tim Hart compiled the interesting wine list, which is arranged by style.
