Hotel du Vin Newcastle

Allan House, City Road, NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, NE1 2BE

1 rosettes

The converted red-brick Edwardian warehouse of the Tyne Tees Steam Shipping Company enjoys commanding views of the city's many bridges, while, as might be expected from this well-established chain, the restaurant has the look of a French bistro, with dark wood floors and wooden-topped tables; patio doors open on to a courtyard for alfresco eating and drinking. You'll find the HdV trademark French brasserie fare, prepared from fresh seasonal produce, with starters like chicken liver parfait and classic mains such as a hearty cassoulet, or roast rump of lamb. What better to end with than apple tarte Tatin with crème Normande.
