Manor House Hotel

2 rosettes

On the High Street of a tourist honeypot village, this Cotswold-stone hotel dates from the reign of Henry VIII. Careful renovation and updating have brought it squarely into the 21st century while retaining original features. The Mulberry Restaurant is a stylish room with generously spaced, dressed tables, comfortable dining chairs and on-the-ball staff. The kitchen demonstrates sound talent and produces appealing dishes without over-complicating things, with a full-on tasting menu up for grabs. Begin with terrine of duck with poached rhubarb, move on to rump of Lighthorne lamb served with its kidney and slow-cooked shoulder, and finish with a luxurious dark chocolate fondant.
