Mount Haven Hotel & Restaurant

Turnpike Road, MARAZION, TR17 0DQ

2 rosettes

St Michael's Mount forms a dramatic backdrop at this boutique hotel near the South West Coast Path. Panko-crusted ham hock and black pudding terrine, given a gentle punch from piccalilli, has been a deeply flavoured starter, with roast scallops with crisp pork belly and sweetcorn purée another thoughtfully composed first course. Seafood is a strong suit among mains-perhaps roast hake fillet accompanied by crab risotto, or whole plaice with tartare sauce, herbed new potatoes and salad-while meat-eaters could choose perhaps pork chop with mustard mash, kale and caramelised onion jus. Properly wobbly pannacotta with caramelised figs is an effective finale, or go for treacle tart.
