Boulters Riverside Brasserie

Boulters Lock Island, MAIDENHEAD, SL6 8PE

2 rosettes

The to-die-for Thames-side location overlooking Boulters Lock, where the river ambles past Maidenhead Bridge, is a very good reason to head to this buzzy, contemporary brasserie. There may be nothing but glass walls between diners and the river, but Boulters is not a place to let the food take a back seat while the views pull in the punters: the ground-floor fine-dining brasserie is flooded with light and looks stylishly neutral with its bare darkwood tables and wooden floors. The food fits the setting to a T - well-executed contemporary brasserie dishes wrought from quality local produce, all impeccably presented. Roast pumpkin and parmesan risotto gets a herby kick from marjoram and deeper earthy notes from truffle butter, while a main course delivers splendidly fresh baked cod with a cheese crust, fondant potato, wilted spinach and wholegrain mustard sauce. For dessert, only Valrhona's finest will do for a hot chocolate fondant with pistachio parfait.
