Asquiths Restaurant

19 North Street, LOSTWITHIEL, PL22 0EF

2 rosettes

Its black and white decor, smartly set tables and elegant staff create positive impressions of this restaurant opposite the church, where food is taken seriously. Confit duck and beetroot pastilla is teamed with silky pomegranate molasses and couscous, with an alternative perhaps of kedgeree with a Scotch egg and pea cream. Fish gets a decent showing, maybe a well-timed roast hake fillet given an Indian slant from curried cauliflower and a courgette bhaji along with potato purée. Or go for full-bodied haunch of venison with Puy lentils braised with smoked bacon, hogs pudding croquette and butternut squash purée. For pudding try caramelised stout pannacotta with cinnamon crumbs and apple cannoli.
