Slap bang in the middle of the high street, this elegant restaurant with rooms has undergone a complete refurbishment. In the kitchen, the ambitious young team conjure innovative combinations from tip-top ingredients. Global creativity is demonstrated in a flavour-packed starter of duck consommé, pork and prawn dumplings, chilli, ginger and pak choi. The flair and dexterity of the kitchen is equally evident in a main course of free-range pork loin teamed with chargrilled monkfish cheek, oyster mushroom, cider and mustard velouté and Ibérico ham. For those with more conservative palates, classic moules marinère is served in two sizes and simply grilled steaks and fish. Banana parfait makes a satisfying conclusion.
