The Painted Heron

112 Cheyne Walk, LONDON, SW10 0DJ

1 rosettes

This upscale Chelsea Indian is a thoroughly modern affair with an understated, clean-lined interior. The cooking is smart and seasonal: in game season there's partridge with spicy minced lamb sauce, or perhaps mallard with root vegetable mash and curry sauce. Starters could be home-smoked monkfish tikka with carom seeds or perhaps chargrilled lamb chops with nutmeg flowers, while main courses cater to traditionalists with a mutton curry. Otherwise try duck tikka with mint, followed by the South Indian-inspired spice-crusted sea bass fillets with coconut rice and Malabari curry. The dessert list offers sticky gulab jamun with passionfruit mousse or pistachio and pear cup cake with chai cream and mango samosa.
