Up on the eighth floor of the old Oxo building, this bar, brasserie and restaurant combo overlooks the river and St Paul's Cathedral, a world-class vista which never fails to impress, day or night. A table on the outdoor terrace is a prized possession indeed (when the weather's right, of course), but it's impressive enough from behind the vast wall of glass in a smart, neutral space, where well turned-out staff keep things ticking over with suave professionalism. The cooking is broadly focused on modern European preparations, spiced with a bit of globetrotting into Asian territory. Seared tuna with Granny Smith apple, radish and dandelion salad relies on deep-red, sashimi-grade tuna of exceptional quality for its impact, while main-course roast monkfish comes with a squid ink popadom, red pepper coulis and radishes, or there might be fillet of beef with girolles, parmesan gnocchi and spiced golden raisin purée. To finish, strawberry and champagne millefeuille with wild strawberry sorbet is a vibrant ode to summer. Do allow some time to peruse the exceptional wine list.
