The Ivy

1-5 West Street, Covent Garden, LONDON, WC2H 9NQ

1 rosettes

A new central dining bar was part of Martin Brudnizki's 2015 redesign of this celebrated Theatreland dining institution, but he wisely left untouched the original harlequin stained-glass windows, green leather banquettes, mirrors and specially commissioned British art. Tables remain a tad neighbourly, but will that matter if a 'celeb' sits within earshot? The classic British and international food remains appealing, typified by a starter of sautéed ceps with creamed polenta and pangritata, and main dishes such as miso-blackened salmon with shellfish broth and pickled kohlrabi, or classic shepherd's pie. To finish, there could be spiced maple and pecan pear tart with vanilla ice cream.
