Tideway Yard, 125 Mortlake High Street, Barnes, LONDON, SW14 8SN
The Depot pulls in the crowds with its knockout riverside views and crowd-pleasing European brasserie-style food. It's a good-looking venue with a skeleton rowing boat hanging above herringbone parquet floors and mustard and coffee-coloured walls. Foie gras and ham hock terrine with dandelion, walnut and shallot salad and toasted brioche starts things off, followed by roast brill fillet with lemon butter, baby artichoke, samphire, potato and pea fricassée, or you might keep it classic with a chargrilled bavette with chips and garlic béarnaise. It all finishes comfortingly with a pot of Venezuelan chocolate with salted caramel mousse and shortbread. Fixed-price options, bar and children's menus help keep the locals returning.
