Sonny's Kitchen

In a terraced row of shops, Sonny's has gently morphed into Sonny's Kitchen, with long-time owner Rebecca Mascarenhas joining forces with Phil Howard as per their successful joint venture in Kensington, Kitchen W8 (see entry). 'Neighbourhood and beyond' is the mantra, which builds on the reputation of the original Sonny's 26 years down the line. The chef has worked at The Square and Maze and his seasonally changing modish European menu has bags of appeal. Start with gazpacho with sour cream ice cream and a mini salmon, avocado and coriander wrap, or ravioli of kid with wilted greens, raisins, walnuts and goat's cheese. Move onto pizza bianco with cured Wagyu beef with smoked ewe's curd, artichokes and rosemary, finishing with coupe SW13 (vanilla ice cream with hot chocolate foam, crumbled brownie, roasted macadamia nuts, popping honeycomb and hundreds and thousands). Exciting times in SW13.
