63-69 Canonbury Road, Islington, LONDON, N1 2DG

1 rosettes

One of a quartet of London pubs forming the Noble Inns group, the Smokehouse is an old Islington boozer reborn as a temple to the elemental, Fred Flintstone principle of subjecting hunks of meat to fire and wood-smoke. In the yard are three giant smokers, fuelled by sustainable English oak, and global culinary influences add punch, fire and spice. Salmon accra fritters with fennel and saffron aļoli opens the show with a blast of smokiness, followed by a comforting plate of smoked lamb shoulder with polenta, raclette cheese and sambal. For pudding, there's moresome Double D tart (think Double Decker chocolate bar). An extensive list of craft beers seals the deal.
