A real looker, the Southbank set up incorporates a hotspot centrepiece bar, swish grill and stellar restaurant. The triple-height space is dominated by a vast wall of windows waterside to offer those show-stopping views. The restaurant turns heads too, with striking chandelier-style lighting, soaring pillars, dramatic flower displays and low-slung contemporary seating, while a soothing colour palette and white linen relaxes the high-energy vibe. The restaurant kitchen speaks with a simple modern-British accent and pinch of panache without cheffy showboating, for example in an opener of melt-in-the-mouth smoked Lincolnshire eel teamed with crispy bacon potato cake and sweet sea kale salad. On the other hand, roasted wild sea bass garners is pepped up with Swiss chard and a lightly spiced mussel casserole, while a signature cherry crème brûlée tart with basil sorbet and cherry salad is the way to finish. The slick service is sunny natured, while the wine list could grace any top-flight establishment.
