Quo Vadis

26-29 Dean Street, LONDON, W1D 3LL

2 rosettes

Quo Vadis first opened its doors to lovers of fine food back in 1926. The place was restored to all of its former art-deco glory in 2008 by restaurateur brothers Sam and Eddie Hart, and since then it's been pleasing modern-day diners with its accomplished brasserie-style cooking based on classic British and French cuisine. You can linger over a cocktail or a glass of wine from the extensive list in the newly opened QV Bar (food is also served here) or head straight to a table in the elegant restaurant with its brown leather banquette seating, art-deco-style glass panelling, original wood floor and cream walls with bold modern art. Some wonderfully crisp fried sand eels with spicy mayonnaise are a perfect way to begin, or try the Burford brown Scotch egg with bacon and little gem. Rabbit pie with carrots and curly kale makes a hearty main course, and the fish and chips is about as good as it gets.
