Quo Vadis

26-29 Dean Street, LONDON, W1D 3LL

2 rosettes

Tan banquettes, modern art and mirrors on the walls and stained glass windows provide the backdrop for accomplished cooking at this Soho stalwart, with the kitchen favouring the modern British style. The daily-changing menu might open with game and pistachio terrine with pickles or less familiar razor clams with fennel and monks beard. Combinations are well considered so dishes maintain interest without over-elaboration: a comforting main course of ox cheeks comes with carrots and pickled walnuts, and cod fillet with sea vegetables and aļoli. The daily pie might be chicken, served with mashed potato, and desserts hit the mark: perhaps buttermilk pudding with lemon curd and rhubarb.
