Set up by three talented deserters from the acclaimed Arbutus/Wild Honey stable (a manager and two chefs), this switched-on outfit presses all the on-trend buttons. It has that sleek, neutral modern look - grey walls, abstract images, oak floors, and food that's more cheffy than the brown-paper menus, accessible pricing, or casually dressed staff might suggest. The kitchen deals in fresh, pretty-as-a-picture, 'small plates' spiked with flavour and flair. A dish of cod with girolle mushrooms, sweetcorn and gnocchi hits all the right notes, while lamb neck gets the 'Picture' treatment, teamed with heritage tomato, aubergine purée and smoked olives. For dessert, chocolate mousse with strawberries, milk jam and amaranth popcorn.
