Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes

Located on Baker Street - as you might have guessed given the name - the boutique-style hotel is home to the contemporary looking Sherlock's Bar & Grill. The open-plan kitchen helps bring a sense of theatre to the intimate space, with its smart and comfortable leather seating and linen-clad tables. The menu revolves heavily around traditional grills and dishes cooked in the wood burning oven; there's a homely feel to presentation and portions are generous. Roast wood pigeon breast comes in a warm sweetcorn and mushroom salad, with caramelized butternut squash purée, and a typical main course is half a wood-roasted corn-fed Goosnargh chicken marinated in thyme and garlic. Desserts such as apple and cranberry crumble and butterscotch ice cream update the classics.
