15 Berkeley Street, LONDON, W1J 8DY
Nobu's glossy Berkeley Street outpost still draws in the Mayfair fashionistas who come for the see-and-be-seen buzz of the ground-floor bar, before winding up the spiral staircase to the cool minimalist David Collins-designed restaurant. Traditionalists can head straight for the sushi bar, or for a bit of fun DIY dining with chefs supervising your efforts around a sunken hibachi grill. Whichever path you take, expect first-rate ingredients, exquisite presentation, and the cleanness and precision of Japanese cooking. Open with soft-shelled crab kara-age with ponzu, or a hybrid whitefish sashimi with aji amarillo (yellow chilli) salsa, then move on to the signature black cod with miso or rib-eye anticucho skewers.
