Pulling in the Putney punters since 1990, this friendly, family-run Italian - at the river end of the High Street - owes much of its popularity and charisma to hands-on proprietors, Giuseppe and Pamela Turi. It's quite the oenophile's delight, too, with a wonderful bond between its Italian food and wines; a by-glass suggestion comes with every dish, otherwise there's a corking 300-plus tour of Italy's wine regions. The kitchen follows suit, with authentic regional dishes given a light modern touch driven by seasonal produce. Thus an autumn menu might be inspired by Puglia, Veneto and Sicily; perhaps delivering hand-made spaghetti with slow-cooked rabbit ragout, tarragon, pine nuts and oven-dried tomatoes, while roast lamb rack could be served with roasted pepper, courgettes, aubergines and tomatoes, and mint and pecorino croquettes. Blond-wood floors, Mediterranean shades and contemporary art bring a cool modish look to the buzzy, opened-up interior.
