Part of a small parade of shops in Holland Park's hinterland, this long-running, fun, shabby-chic neighbourhood Italian restaurant deserves wider recognition. Off-beat Renaissance-style nude artworks immediately catch the eye, while the Italian proprietor, Italian staff, exclusively Italian wines and generous modern Italian cooking (delivered on brightly-painted Italian Solimene crockery) set the tone - in fact, when the sun shines and the full-length front windows fold back, you could almost imagine yourself in Milan. There are plenty of extras, from breads to olives, to mini pizzas and petits fours, while the simple, accomplished well-dressed fare allows tip-top ingredients shine. Seafood's a speciality (stewed squid stuffed with crab in a light tomato sauce), while home-made pasta (duck ravioli with wild mushrooms) might line-up alongside roast best-end lamb rack with artichokes. Zabaglione, tiramisł, pannacotta or semi-fredo provide a traditional finish. Lunch is great value.
