Cecconi's

Bijou tapas-style grazing and sharing dishes have been à la mode on the capital's dining scene for a few years now, and here is the Venetian take on the theme, known as cichetti. Mayfair is not exactly known for its friendly all-day dining options, so you may be pleased to know that Cecconi's opens its doors for breakfast (maybe a pan-roasted tomato and fontina sandwich) and keeps it coming through brunch to dinner with an all-day menu - pan-roasted lamb cutlets with caponata, perhaps - or you might perch at the bar counter and order something like Umbrian sausages and peppers, or roast quail with pancetta and lentils from the cichetti section. For pudding, there may be blood orange tart with mascarpone ice cream. The chefs know their stuff, delivering top-class fresh ingredients cooked precisely, and as we're in Mayfair the setting is none too shabby either with its green leather chairs and stools, buttoned velour banquettes and black-and-white tiled flooring.
