Set in the beautiful old orangery in Holland Park, once the summer ballroom for the Jacobean mansion, Holland House, the Belvedere has a rather glamorous interior and classic Anglo-French food. Design guru David Collins has created a thrilling art-deco-style setting, with mirror balls, ornate hand-painted wallpaper, and Andy Warhol-like images of Marilyn Monroe. Alongside its high ceiling, marble staircase leading to a mezzanine and terrace, and views of the lovely gardens, there's a lot to like about Belvedere. The cooking treats good ingredients with respect in simple, flavoursome dishes. Start with seared scallops with shallot purée, Morteau sausage and red wine jus, followed by grilled calves' liver with mashed potato, spinach, pancetta and sauce Bercy. Round things off with a textbook tiramisù.
