Hammet House

LLECHRYD, SA43 2QA

2 rosettes

This three-storey Georgian hotel has a new, designer-led contemporary-chic look (Perspex dining chairs in the restaurant, for instance). The kitchen's a busy place, with all-day, vegetarian and tasting menus as well as the dinner carte. The cooking is as up-to-date as the surroundings, with a degree of eclecticism to the menus. Starters include hot-smoked salmon with cucumber ketchup, borage and wasabi, for instance, and successful main courses of goat curry with miso leeks, goats' curd, kofta and mint, or pigeon with beetroot spaghetti, leg bolognese, feta and fig. And puddings don't miss a beat, among them warm chocolate mousse with peanut parfait and banana sorbet.
