Hole in the Wall

2 High Street, LITTLE WILBRAHAM, Cambridge, CB21 5JY

2 rosettes

It's easy to see why this friendly and characterful 16th-century inn is so popular. The village setting is lovely and the cosmopolitan daily-changing menu features some very clever, innovative cooking that really hits the mark. A starter of chicken liver parfait comes with pureed rhubarb, puréed prune and tiny lapsang souchong jelly cubes, while beautifully cooked hake is accompanied by roast cauliflower and silky cauliflower purée, raisin agrodolce bringing a lovely acid note. The buttermilk pannacotta is a great finish, a simple dish elevated by the kick from a blood orange sorbet and a good hazelnut financier.
