The Ferry House Inn

Harty Ferry Road, LEYSDOWN-ON-SEA, ME12 4BQ

1 rosettes

The Ferry House, a country inn alongside the Swale Estuary, has put the Isle of Sheppey on the culinary map. It's possible to eat in the bar, but the majority of diners book into the raftered Barn Restaurant. The kitchen's style is modern British, so expect intelligently composed starters such as scallops with stout-braised lamb breast, pea purée and pickled kohlrabi, or pork terrine with sea buckthorn sauce. Then try confit duck leg with redcurrant jus, potato croquettes, greens and roast beetroot, or pan-fried salmon fillet on red pepper sauce with runner beans, chickpeas and tomatoes. End seasonally with vanilla crème brûlée with winter fruits.
