The Duke's Head Hotel

5-6 Tuesday Market Place, KING's LYNN, PE30 1JS

1 rosettes

The hotel occupies a prime spot on the town's main square, its sky blue frontage and period features making a fine first impression. There's a contemporary bistro-style restaurant called Gryffens and a fine-dining option, Turners Restaurant. The latter is an elegant space with well-dressed tables and a feeling of old meeting new. The kitchen brings classical and modern ideas to the table, with the fixed-price seasonal menu offering up a mini Greek salad or potted crayfish with pickled cucumber among first courses. Move on to pan-fried duck breast (cooked just right) with boulangère potatoes and a punchy blackcurrant sauce, and finish with lemon and thyme pannacotta.
