Restaurant Severn
33 High Street,
IRONBRIDGE,
TF8 7AG
Husband-and-wife-team Eric and Beb Bruce run this small, smartly presented yet informal neighbourhood restaurant, set in a row of period shops close to the famous iron bridge. In an intimate setting of wooden floors, oak beams, warm colours, subtle lighting and black lacquered tables, Eric delivers modern British dishes that are underpinned by locally-sourced and home-grown seasonal ingredients and display classical French influences. Presentation is simple and unfussy to allow flavours to shine through, as seen in a light wild mushroom soufflé with crispy leeks and a full-flavoured Madeira sauce, and a tender, accurately-cooked loin of Welsh lamb with pine nut stuffing and a delicious rosemary sauce. Beb Bruce is in charge of desserts, and may offer a classic crème brûlée with caramelised banana.
