This intimate restaurant occupies a restored general store that's been at the hub of local life since 1900. Framed photos sit alongside local artworks, and the decor has an unforced, mix-and-match look that sits well with the simple, unaffected culinary approach. The kitchen takes Kent's splendid produce, handles it with skill and respect and transforms it into a starter of duck hash with a poached egg and mustard aļoli, followed by locally-landed ling with courgette fritters and cauliflower risotto. Puddings are pleasing too, with particular praise going to the impressive natural flavours in banana parfait topped with an airy banana espuma.
