Prospect Place, HARROGATE, HG1 1LB
The Harrogate outpost of the HdV chain occupies a luxuriously converted terrace of eight Georgian townhouses opposite the 200-acre Stray Common. With hops around the windows and mustard-coloured walls, the place bears the group's corporate stamp, and the kitchen makes a virtue of simplicity and restraint in its standard French bistro repertoire, leaving the quality and freshness of the ingredients to speak for themselves. Classic moules marinière is a generous piping-hot bowlful, and there's no stinting on main courses either, such as rabbit in creamy cider sauce with a serving of pasta. Gooey tarte Tatin with crème normande makes a fitting finish.
