The Radcliffe

31 Walsworth Road, HITCHIN, SG4 9ST

1 rosettes

The Radcliffe is a lively gastro-pub operation designed to appeal to all comers. The transition from Victorian boozer to successful food pub, with the high-decibel ambience of the locals' bar still intact, has been helped along by the conservatory extension overlooking the garden, which provides a third dining venue on balmy days. A crowd-pleasing menu of modern British food is offered, setting out with smoked salmon and leek filo tart matched with lemon crème fraîche, followed by a hearty plate of venison haunch with poivrade sauce, creamy mash, roasted apple and blackberry sauce. For pudding there's elderflower pannacotta with gooseberries.
