The oriental artefacts, artworks, calligraphy and black lacquered seats illustrate that classic and modern Cantonese cooking is the Grand Imperial's business these days. There's a dim sum menu at lunchtime, with intriguing options such as abalone and prawn dumpling, marinated jellyfish with wasabi, or steamed chicken claws in black bean sauce. Dim sum appear on the carte menu too, otherwise set out with salt and pepper soft shell crab, or soups such as hot and sour Szechuan soup with lobster, before mains of sautéed scallop, prawn and broccoli in XO sauce, braised whole turbot with turnip and spring onions, or classic Peking duck.
