51 Bell Street, GLASOW, G1 1PA
This urban, industrial-chic café, restaurant and bar, makes a big impression with its huge windows soaring up to a mezzanine floor, cool decor of bare brick and white tiled walls, slate floors and horseshoe-shaped bar where oysters are displayed on ice. An open-to-view kitchen feeds into the buzz and there's plenty you'll want to eat all day long, from breakfast to a crowd-pleasing menu of modern Scottish bistro-style cooking. A starter of potted rabbit with quince, pickles and toasted sourdough is a dish that has its finger on the contemporary culinary pulse, while mains could dip into classic territory via steak tartare loaded with cornichons, capers and shallots and served with skinny fries. Alternatively, there might be well-handled fish - baked cod, say, with purple sprouting broccoli, kale and shellfish butter. Puddings like chocolate and beetroot brownie with clotted cream tick all the right boxes too.
