Urban Bar and Brasserie

23-25 St Vincent Place, GLASGOW, G1 2DT

1 rosettes

This sleek, modern bar-brasserie capitalises on the grandiose architecture of a former bank, throwing in brown leather banquettes, smartly laid tables and huge canvases of modern art. Add black-clad staff wearing long white aprons, and a bustling vibe, and you might be in Paris. The menu is Scotland-meets-Mediterranean ideas sprinkled with Asian flavours, a starter of smoked salmon with Thai jelly, cornichons and capers being typical of the style. Main courses can be as traditional as grilled lemon sole with tartare sauce and chips and as full-on as braised beef cheeks with parsnip purée, star anise gravy and crispy fennel. To finish, the addition of liquorice rejuvenates a crème brûlée.
