Stirk House Hotel

GISBURN, Clitheroe, BB7 4LJ

1 rosettes

The majestic scenery of the Ribble Valley and the Forest of Bowland provide a wild Lancashire backdrop for the weathered stone walls of 16th-century Stirk House. Original plasterwork and an ornate fireplace add character to the restaurant, where friendly staff are well-briefed on the menu. The cooking relies on splendid Lancashire produce. Smooth chicken liver parfait comes with red pepper chutney and toasted sourdough bread, followed by herb-crusted baked cod with roasted cherry tomatoes, green beans and garlic oil, or there may be roast pork wrapped in prosciutto with wholegrain mustard mash and cider cream sauce. Rounding things off, there's apricot Bakewell tart with stem ginger ice cream.
