A substantial Victorian mansion in lush gardens, Cluny Bank has traditionally styled decor and a small, smart restaurant called Franklin's. There is a lot of period charm to the restaurant and a definite air of sophistication, while the menu name-checks the local Moray suppliers. You might kick off with Asian-inspired wok-fried king prawns and monkfish cheeks, or home-cured rollmops with celeriac remoulade, followed by new season grouse - a superb local bird - with red cabbage and game jus. Chef likes to come out of the kitchen and his bonhomie is very welcome indeed, as are his desserts, such as chocolate parfait with Madeira-soaked raisins and biscuit crumb.
