Offering admirable support to its glamourous and ambitious fine-dining sibling also in the landmark Balmoral Hotel (see entry for Number One), Hadrian's is a valuable address in the city in its own right. The art-deco styling, with walnut floors and shades of unshouty lime, make for a distinctly chic setting, and the elegantly turned out staff set the right tone for its European-accented menu. Start with a classic foie gras parfait served with toasted brioche and grape chutney, followed by grilled fillet of cod with a mustard velouté or fillet of Blairgowrie beef with Lyonnaise onions and red wine béarnaise. To finish, go for warm apple tart with caramel sauce and Chantilly cream, and note there's an imaginative children's menu on offer, too.
