With just seven tables, this dinky restaurant with its minimalist colour scheme offers modern Scottish food of some refinement. Begin with some scallops (from this part of the world of course), seared and served with a lightly spiced pumpkin purée, black pudding, gingerbread and pomegranate. Move on to a maple-glazed duck breast with Savoy cabbage enriched with pancetta and a duck sausage roll, or home-smoked sea trout with curried mussels. For dessert, the chocolate fondant oozes in all the right places, and comes with burnt marshmallow ice cream. There's a fixed-price menu available at lunchtimes and pre-theatre in the evening.
