A glass-fronted boutique hotel by the river Stour, where the kitchen serves up modern brasserie fare, fully in keeping with the attractive surroundings. A slice of pig's cheek and apple terrine is big on flavour and comes with a sharp-shooting pea and radish salad, while classic seafood specialities such as moules marinière or whole dressed crab won't lack for subscribers. For the main course, opt for succulent lamb rump with beetrooted dauphinoise in red wine. Veggie possibilities include an Indian-spiced cauliflower risotto with coconut and coriander, and the dessert crowd-pleasers take in textbook crème brûlée with a chocolate chip cookie.
