Wild Thyme Restaurant with Rooms

2 rosettes

Grade II listed and 400 years old, this smart little restaurant with rooms (35 covers and three bedrooms) has original features on show, but the place feels bright and contemporary just the same. That's down to the easy-going look of exposed stone walls, modern artworks and white-painted woodwork, with the wooden tables left unclothed. Chef-patron Nick Pullen seeks out top-notch seasonal regional produce and cooks smart, contemporary British food that deals in intelligent flavour combinations. Try salt-cured local venison to start, followed by wild rabbit (confit leg and the loin served en croute with smoked bacon), or risotto of Jerusalem artichokes and spring onion.
