Three Ways House

Chapel Lane, Mickleton, CHIPPING CAMPDEN, GL55 6SB

1 rosettes

You can take it for granted that the Cotswolds home of the famous Pudding Club won't be serving up any foams, froths or drizzles. As its name hints, the club is famous for championing Great British Puddings, but there's a lot more to appreciate here before we get to dessert. The Victorian hotel has oodles of period character, although the restaurant bucks the trend with a more contemporary look involving stripy seats and cool blue walls. As you might expect, the food is punchy, big-hearted British stuff, put together with a flag-waving dedication to local raw materials. Pressed turkey and bacon terrine with cranberry compôte is a typical starter, followed by roast pork fillet with black pudding mash and roasted garlic. And so to pudding, which just has to be a selection of steamed puds - sticky toffee and date, chocolate, and syrup sponge, anyone? - with lashings of custard.
