The Seagrave Arms

2 rosettes

Stone-built and four-square, the 400-year-old Seagrave is a Cotswolds inn of considerable character. Strong classic undertones are discernible beneath the modern British cooking style. An excellent line-up might be rabbit and Morteau sausage pie with cider gravy, well complemented by pickled mustard seeds, then slow-cooked, dry-aged beef rib with chips (The Seagrave's chips won a national award in 2015, by the way), carrots and smoked garlic purée, wrapping up with apple tart and vanilla ice cream. For a fish alternative, perhaps Cornish monkfish with beetroot, turnip, parsnip and pear cider sauce. A good selection of wines by the glass includes a sparkling white from Nyetimber's South Downs vineyard.
