CARLINGFORD, Co Louth, ROI,
Perched on the water's edge within a pretty walled garden complete with veg patch to fuel the kitchen, Ghan House's restaurant has views over the Mourne Mountains. Just about everything is made in-house. Local sea scallops might turn up in the company of white beans, chorizo from the Gubbeen smokehouse and mojo verde, or you could go for the warming comfort of roast parsnip soup with curried crème fraîche. Among main courses, saddle of Wicklow venison is partnered with celeriac and beetroot, with a kick of ginger, and rump of Slane Valley lamb with a sage and bacon rissole and onion ash. Finish with Grand Marnier parfait and chocolate tart.
