The Dove Inn
Plum Pudding Lane,
Dargate,
CANTERBURY,
ME13 9HB
This self-styled gastro-pub occupies an ivy-clad building with a large garden. The interior, with lots of bare wood and beams and a light décor, is straightforward but inviting, and the menus are an appealing amalgam of the contemporary and the more rustic. Sound ingredients are handled simply, producing starters of black pudding and apple salad with a poached egg, and potted shrimps. Forthright flavours are to the fore in main courses too, as in John Dory with pancetta, capers and crushed potatoes, or steamed lamb and onion pudding with potato purée, while puddings can be as engaging as vanilla crème brûlée with Cassis sorbet, or bread-and-butter pudding with vanilla ice cream.

It is a shame to see that the entry for The Dove Inn on this website has not been updated as the Dove has been under new ownership for over a year now. The food is of an equally exceptional standard and has received very good feedback from locals and regulars alike. It would be nice to see a well deserved updated entry for the new chef/proprietor on this site.
