Moorhill House Hotel

BURLEY, Ringwood, BH24 4AG

1 rosettes

Deep in the ancient woodland of the New Forest, near the pretty village of Burley, Moorhill's sits in its own handsome gardens. It's done out in light, attractive country-house style within, with log fires in winter. In the elegant dining room, straightforward but well-executed British dishes include devilled sardines on fennel-seed toast with cherry tomato and basil compôte. Move on to slow-roast pork belly with glazed apple and sautéed Savoy cabbage, sauced with the famous local Burley cider, or grilled haddock with chorizo and chickpea cassoulet. Cockle-warming puddings include a spiced rum parfait with ginger biscuits and coffee sauce, and black treacle and almond tart with orange ice cream.
