The White Horse

24 High Street, Westbury on Trym, BRISTOL, BS9 3DZ

1 rosettes

This old coaching inn has been welcoming travellers and locals for a couple of hundred years, and continues to do so following a 21st-century makeover into a self-styled gastro-pub. The original charm of the place remains, while shades of grey and chunky wooden tables suit the mood of the times and the bar is well stocked with real ales and artisan gins. The kitchen bakes its own bread and offers everything from populist burgers to roast hake with crab mash. Start with chicken liver and foie gras parfait with Muscat and apple jelly, and end on a creative note with baked figs with goats' cheese ice cream.
